Trend Analytics - Box plot calculation for Sentiment score graph

Modified on Fri, 17 Jan at 2:47 AM

Introduction :

This KB explains how the trend analytics graph / box plots are calculated for the Sentiment score graph.

1. Data Grouping:

  • The data is grouped by month based on the creation date of each data point.

2. Box Plot Calculation:

  • Quartiles:
    • Q1 Lower Quartile (25th percentile): Represents the value below which 25% of the data within the month falls.
    • Q3 Upper Quartile (75th percentile): Represents the value below which 75% of the data within the month falls.
  • Interquartile Range (IQR): Calculated as Q3 - Q1.
  • Median: The middle value of the "Sentiment Score" data for that month.
  • Maximum: Q3 + (1.5 * IQR)
  • Minimum: Q1 - (1.5 * IQR)

3. Outliers:

  • Data points within a month that fall outside the range defined by the calculated Maximum and Minimum values are considered outliers. These are typically represented by red dots on the box plot.
