SupportLogic and Okta with OpenID OIDC Integration

Modified on Fri, 10 Feb 2023 at 01:05 PM

Purpose

Leverage Okta and OpenID OIDC to provide authentication for users into the SupportLogic application.

Okta Integration Steps

Overview

SupportLogic provides sign-in functionality using external identity and access management solutions compatible with the OpenID standard, such as Okta for the SupportLogic SaaS application. This ensures that SupportLogic adheres to the same authentication methods already in place within your organization.

Once Single Sign On (SSO) is enabled in SupportLogic, Okta can be used to control access to SupportLogic.

SupportLogic does not support Okta tiles when using ODIC integration. If you wish to use Okta tiles should instead use a SAML based integration with Okta.

See the following article for details:

Configure an Application profile in Okta

Your Okta administrator must create an application profile for SupportLogic in Okta as a first step to configuring SSO integration.

Okta documentation can be found in the article below:

Auth Code - Setting Up Your Application

Complete the following steps:

1. To add a SupportLogic integration into OKTA:

  • Log into your Okta admin portal

  • Click on “Applications”

2. Click “Create App Integration”.

3. Select ‘OIDC - OpenID Connect’ and ‘Web Application.

4. Add App Integration Name, Logo information and Login redirect URIs.  Select implicit (hybrid) under Grant type.

5. Add both Login redirect URl by clicking on “+ Add URl”.  Enter the following URl:

6. Delete any entries for Sign-out redirect URIs.

7. Click Save when finished.

8. Copy Client ID and Client secret from the new application and provide these details to SupportLogic.

9. Also provide the sub-domain/issuer.

Post Setup Configurations

Authorizing users for access to SupportLogic

Users requiring access to SupportLogic will need to be authorized for SSO in Okta by an Okta administrator. Until this is done, the user will not be able to sign into SupportLogic successfully.

Provision access to product features in SupportLogic

When a user is granted access to SupportLogic, they will be granted Swarming user level access and a SupportLogic Admin (with Dashboard user access) will need to enable other user functions and assign the user to the right profile.

See how to configure profiles and associate users to them in the Managing Users article.
